Amid coronavirus threat, a sanitizer refill plant was supplying fake sanitizers in the Ganderbal area of Kashmir. Six barrels of fake hand sanitizers sealed.

The Drug Control department of Kashmir Drug and Food Control Organisation had received a complaint from Baramulla area that fake sanitizers are being supplied to the market. According to the department the fake sanitizers were supplied from an Ayurvedic medicine manufacturing plant in Ganderbal area.

The department ceased six barrels of these fake sanitizers from the plant, as confirmed by Deputy Director Drug Control Department, Irfana Ahmed.

These barrels contained an unknown liquid and were being packed in bottles and then labelled with fake slips of “Hand sanitizer”. Since the nature of this liquid could not be immediately known, they have been sent to the drug laboratory for further investigation, according to Irfana Ahmed.

The team also raided the printing press where the fake labels were printed for the fake sanitizers. The police has registered a case against the company on March 11 and further investigation is on, as per the department.
