Government officials confirmed that reports of the so-called letter praising the Uttarakhand govt for Kumbh efforts are fake.
A letter circulating on social media suggesting that National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has appreciated the Uttarakhand government officials for successfully organising the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar is “fake” according to the government officials.
Several social media users including eminent lawyer Prashant Bhushan shared the image on social media. Though Bhushan later deleted his post. The ‘fake’ letter was addressed to the Uttarakhand Chief Secretary and ends by saying that his efforts for the successful conduct of Kumbh Mela would ensure a religious atmosphere, help to maintain order and promote Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ideology in the future as well.
Soon after the letter went viral, news agency ANI reported that the government officials have called the viral letter “fake”.
It was also fact-checked by Quint and India Today. They found that the text in the viral letter had been lifted from another official letter signed by Ajit Doval and there were several grammatical errors in the viral letter.
