While we are fighting a battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, alongside that we need to be aware of the infodemic that has creeped in slowly and has become one of the most critical issues that we need to fight daily.

Ratan Tata has become a favourite face for the fake news creators in India, as recently he found himself amidst the chaos resulting from the fake quotes viral on social media which were attributed to him.

An article report, written in Hindi, is being shared widely across social media platforms and the headline of the same became viral which says “2020 जीवित रहने का साल है । लाभ हानि की चिंता ना करें” [ 2020 Is The Year to Stay Alive, Don’t Care About Profit & Loss].

This post is written in the form of a motivational message, especially for the business personals, asking them to just survive and not worry about any profits and losses. At a time when the economy will be hit hard due to the unavoidable lockdown, this false hope will not do any good.

Ratan Tata took to Twitter to debunk this false claim. He clarifies, “I’m afraid this too, has not been said by me” and encourages people to verify the news online.

Another motivational message was spread in his name, earlier in April, asking people not to worry as the economy will “bounce back” quickly. But Ratan Tata has been quite active in quickly taking to social media to bust out any claims attributed to him.
